Sodapop confides in Ponyboy and sticks up for him when Darry lectures him. He is the only person who can tease Darry and get away with it.
He is described as having dark-brown hair like his father but unique, piercing, blue-green eyes with a serious cast to them. Ponyboy thinks he would actually be handsome if he weren't so cold and pragmatic. He describes his oldest brother at the start: "Darry's hard and firm and never grins at all" (The Outsiders 3).
How was Bob killed in The Outsiders? Bob was killed by Johnny with a six-inch switchblade. Johnny killed Bob because, if he didn't, Ponyboy would have been drowned by another of the Socs.

After Bob and a group of Socs beat Johnny so badly that he nearly dies, Johnny becomes 'scared of his own shadow' and begins carrying a switchblade to protect himself. When Bob and some Socs once again attack Johnny and Ponyboy, Johnny keeps his promise to himself and uses the switchblade to kill Bob.
